CEL & Associates is a divorce and family mediation practice dedicated to helping individuals and families work through difficult transitions with greater understanding, less conflict, and more control over the decisions that shape their future.

Founded in 2005 by experienced divorce and family mediator Brian James, CEL & Associates serves clients throughout Chicago, the surrounding suburbs, northwest Illinois, and Southeastern Wisconsin. Our approach is practical, compassionate, and centered on helping people make informed decisions during some of life’s most challenging moments.

We believe mediation should do more than simply resolve the issues in front of you. It should provide a respectful environment where people can communicate more productively, understand their options, and work toward agreements that support the next chapter of their lives.

We help clients obtain the information and resources they need to make informed decisions, become stronger advocates for themselves, and work toward a more stable future for everyone involved.
